Suraj K C

A fine young Nepali webmaster from Belgium brings out a facinating Nepali website not to be missed (but as of this date the site gone or hijacked, the site was called coonepal.com)

CoolNepal.com by Suraj KC! Interview Notes of July 2004 : Hi, I am Suraj K.C, I am 14 years old. I am a Nepali from Belgium. My aim was to be in the Gorkha Army but unfortunately my parents didn't want that so I guess I am left on the other side!. I learned creating MS word documents for a month on my own, then after a year, when I got internet connection on my computer, I really didn't know how to make use of it, i looked over the possibilities everywhere on the internet but later i learnt that I could make a website too!. I studied source codes of HTML documents, then day by day I became familiar with HTML tags, then i also got into Visual Basic Programming. After that, I also became familiar with Active Server Pages (ASP). Now I am learning and experimenting PHP, which is used in my website. I hope you will like it! and I hope you will send in comments and suggestions to encourage me to do better! As the site no longer exists with its content, we are looking for Suraj's new venture ? Where are you Suraj ? Are you upto something new and innovative ? Let us know!

Subol Shrestha

Interview Notes of Feb 2003 : Hi, I am Subol from New Summit boarding school. I got into web design 2 years ago but have not been able to give more time for web design than I would like to. But I will defiantly be in the IT field for long. My message to you all is that do not think for the short-term-profits. Aim for long term benefits. Be creative. That's the most important element in web design.

Parimal Satyal

Interview Notes of 4 May 2002 : I'm 13, and have a special interest in Computers (Web  Authoring,  Graphics  - Photoshop, 3D Modeling, Gaming etc.) and Music (Metal, and playing/composing songs). I joined Rato Bangala School after my previous two schools, Alka (KG - 4),   Malpi   (5-6).  I  really  wanted to improve nepal's web network because  there  are simply too many nepalis out there who are talented but hidden down under. I started out a personal page (first at the age of  11,  a  small  frontpage  based  design,  before  which  i used to implement  by  using Homestead.com's beginner site designer), and then to some useful sites like these.

For  current  sites,  inspirations  were  sites  like Mark Bridgeman's www.ultimatemetal.com. He made that using simple tools, but manages so well. The main thing are visitors. They create your site, specially if it includes chat or discussion forums (like in Ataraxia Online). Other inspiration   was   when   I   was  11,  my brother's friend's brother (broad relations)  had  a  site  i constantly went to, just because i liked  the  content and at that age, it seemed wonderful. Now I create sites  to  express  everything  inside  my crazy brain, and to provide something  who  take  interest. These sites reflect the maze somewhere within me, and so, those interested will...well, hopefully enjoy it.

I  like a simple life, no complications or other stuff to worry about. Mostly  I  get people around me trying to live a 'cool' life, but have no  sense  of  how  to  earn  a  living  or  even a decent life. I get motivated  by  simplicity  and  juvenility.  I  think being stupid and making  mistakes is a gift, and all these crazy ideas are displayed in the site.
I  wanted  to go look for a good collection of nepali websites,  tabbed,  indexed  or anything related to the factor of good navigation.  Only  some  came  out.  I  loved  Nepal Vista though, the reason  i  wanted  my  site  to appear there. It was indexed well with descriptions  and  all.  Other content were also useful. Travel Guides and Introduction to Nepal - "the beautiful land of mount Everest', and all  that  stuff  is  useless. Nepal needs generic sites that will not junk  the  visitor  by  praising  their  country  so much, with GIF  flags, national  anthem  MIDIs  and  a  sky  background.  We  need  something resource full, and I like Nepal Vista's concept.

Right   now,   I  have  interest in web-designing (but I'm not so good at  HTML,  JavaScripts  etc.),  Photoshop  works  (i  love Photoshop). Another  choice is Journalism, but I think like would be more exciting if I could somehow do both (tech journalist maybe). But I'm interested more in  the IT part.
