Nepal lives in Darkness
This page was written at the time King had taken over. Now both Seven Party Alliance and Maoists are working to form a new government.
New fresh content will soon be updated here
Nepal is currently ruled by the King after he sacked the existing government of Nepal - the multi-party system with the power of politicians chosen by their people.
Nepal had a government made by the people and for the people. It could not even tackle many of the country's
issues such as reducing poverty, ending the civil war in the country, building roads to remote villages so farmers could sell their products,
increasing number of schools so children would not have to walk for miles to get to the schools,
building hospitals in remote areas so sick people wouldn't die being carried to cities for miles and miles,
reducing price of groceries such as rice so poor people can afford to buy it.
Nepali politicians, going after country's problems, went after getting a luxurious life such as
driving an expensive car, building expensive homes and buying lands everywhere in their name all obviously funded by Poor Nepalese Tax Money! Everyone in Nepal saw that happening right in front of their nose yet they couldn't anything about it.
Politicians of the poor country where 50% of the people live below a dollar 1 day, started living the life of rich peoples else
where. They got rich only by corruption and bribery which only made Nepalese even poorer. Also the country's ongoing civil war paralyzed
the whole country's development efforts. Everyone had an excuse - when someone asked why poor were getting poorer. Politicians blamed the war, while
Maoist gorillas blamed politicians.
After the king took over the government, a lot of the Nepalese who did not see any results from their chosen
government are looking forward to seeing some results from the King's government. Such as punishing corrupted people. Equally there are
those Nepalese who believe that Nepal was only ruled for ten years by the government of the people while Monarchy (King's Government)
had ruled the country for many more years. So they blame the country's poverty is due to the ruthless rulings by the Monarchy and its corrupted government officials. They believe that democracy must be given a chance and they believe freedom and democracy must return to Nepal for anything to happen.
Majority of Nepalese hope that King will put an end to the Gorillas war, hope that prices of goods and services will be affordable to the poor Nepalese. Many hope that the king will provide freedom, and that people will be allowed to choose their own government. They hope that corrupted people will be punished too.
Freedom of speech in Nepal? Talk all you want but don't talk against the king and/or in favor of the gorillas. Nepalese do not have the right to freedom of speech and expression.
People are banned from conducting demonstrations, shouting slogans against the King or slogans favoring the gorillas. After King's takeover political activists and journalists have been arrested. Nepal's all media (print, online, radio, tv) is also censored by Nepalese
Royal Army officials. There has been reports of disappearances of peoples at the hands of security forces. Since one can not talk against the King and his government, there remains the possibility of tons of abuses by police and armies being unheard. Let alone the abuses by Maoists gorillas.
Millions of Nepalese today live in fear, live in darkness with what-ever hopes they have in future, be it of Kings or again the People's Government.
