1996 People's War A fraction of communist party of Nepal becomes Maoists party and take upon the daunting task of abolishing Monarchy with the war being named as "People's War". The war is lead by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Pushpa Kamal Dahal (nick name "Prachanda") starting from the remote parts of Nepal such as Rolpa District
2001 People's War Nepal Army fights heavily with Maoists but fails to bring them down.
2002 People's War Parliament is dissolved, US provides Fund and Military support to attack Maoists
2003 People's War Maoists call for Cease fire. Cease fire breaks and extensive violence takes place almost throughout the year
2004 People's War Nepal Government starts cracking down on Maoists. During the same year, a bomb explodes at the United States Information Service Center in the Capital. Over Fifty thousand demonstrator and rebels fight with Nepal Army.
2005 Royal Coup King Gyanendra Takes Absolute Power. Suppresses freedom of speech for both people, jails many Journalists who wrote against him or his actions. Newspapers were censored by Royal Army before publishing. Maoists declare a 3 months ceasefire
2006 King's War For Mere Election In This year, King Gyanendra Tries to Hold an election that fails to form a government. People's Movement forces King to give-up his power. Movement included peoples of all political background; Maoists, Nepali Congress, and even those who supported King all of them took the streets; many protectors were wounded, many gone missing and hundreds killed by King's Army during peaceful protects.
2007 7 Party's Unite For 1 Single War Seven Political parties unite including Maoist Party, all agree to abolish monarchy. Momentum starts and rolls as King losses popularity in the nation that once worshiped King as the reincarnation of Vishnu (A Hindu God)
2008 April 10 2008, Constitution Election is Set People's Movement carried out by Maoists leads to Parliament Abolishing Monarchy and a fresh new Election is set for April 10 2008 which happens to be the second call for election within less than 1 year. Whether the election will be fair, will be even held is uncertain. Over 70 political parties are running for this election race and some political pundits claim that the country is highly divided now then ever before.
